Augusta 2014 Masters Tournament Preview with Odds
It’s finally time for my favourite and probably so many golf fans favourite tournament of the year the 2014 Masters!
Such a great tournament at the beautiful Augusta National where the best of the best compete for the glorious Green Jacket!
Last year Adam Scott took down the title and with Tiger Woods questionable to even play this year, Adam definitely has the right opportunity to win back to back green jackets.
Rory Mcilroy is going for his first green jacket as one of the pre tournament favourites and he definitely is capable of playing well at Augusta, the problem is can he finish well with that collapse in the back of his mind.
Probably the safest pick to do well is clearly Australian Jason Day who is seemingly always in the hunt at Augusta for the last few years. He has a tie for 2nd and a 3rd place finish and since Augusta is such a particular golf course, Jason Day to win or finish top 5 seems like a great bet to make. Only issue is he is coming off a thumb injury that could affect the way he plays, but a healthy Jason Day could be the one to put on the Green Jacket.
Injuries also clearly plague Tiger Woods who healthy would be the clear favourite, but with back issues I think its a safe play to not put a single cent on him and just be happy if he took down the title somehow.
Who Should be the Pre Tournament Favourite?
Rory Mcilroy shouldn’t be the pre tournament favourite and it astounds me how low his odds are with him who couldn’t even close the Honda Classic let alone closing the Masters!
Adam Scott as defending champion and having an all around consistently impressive year should be the pre tournament favourite and would be I think if he didn’t collapse at Bay Hill!
Tiger Woods isn’t healthy…Jason Day not healthy….
I guess that leaves Lefty Phil Mickelson who is the 4th favourite in most sports books but is healthy and hasn’t collapsed in recent weeks leading up to the Masters. Phil has missed a couple cuts but coming off a Tied for 16th at the WGC Cadillac means he can still compete. Phil is one of the players that can really light up Augusta and with the field a little shaky who else than a former Champion to come in and take a FOURTH Green Jacket!

I mean its probably not going to happen but wouldn’t it be exciting if he just opened with a 67 and took the early lead! Long shots almost come in sometimes I had Tom Watson at 1000-1 when he almost won the British.
